I'm hoping somebody here can help me with this...

Now, I must profess to being rather clueless as to the workings of vbulletins. Been posting on them for years, but never ran or messed about with one. So my problem is this: a board I have been visiting for years is about to close due to the admin having to shut down the hosting thanks to lack of funds. She'd rather move the board rather than delete it, but doesn't know how. A friend of mine mentioned something about copying files onto your computer to back up the board and then upload it elsewhere, but quite frankly I was clueless as to what he was on about. Can anyone here make more sense out of it? Or, if you know a way of how to save the board and move it onto a different server, I'd be very, very thankful, as will a lot of other people.

Subject:A php archive? I need help and or advise

x-posted

I've created a site hoping to archive php coded forums from the world wide web. This way an internet surfer can login and search categorized listings of forums so they can easily find what they're looking for.

Since there are thousands of php coded forums of all different content, I'd like to set up categories and list them under it.

unfortunately I know very little php. I know how to implement MODS into my forums and that's just about it.

Here's the site I'm working on. http://phpforumarchive.com/

Any suggestions or anyone willing to help? I am sure this will be a decent site when completed and people (internet surfers) will probably use it frequently. Forum owners will like it because of the free advertising they get for their site.

I know html, some javascript, no php beyond pre written MODS that show you how to instal them. MySQL? Forget it.

Tell me I'm in over my head.

I sure hope that vB3.5.0 goes gold soon as I'm getting quite bored of waiting. Sure I could just use the Release Candidate 2 but I'd rather use the finished product. Oh and this place seems to have died.

Hola. I believe someone spammed me this link a while back, but now I felt like actually joining, since I'm getting back into the whole forum game again.. My choice of software will always be vBulletin though, and I've worked with iKonboard and PHPBB :)

So, I've just brought my new lease license and am beginning to install hacks, skins and the like behind the scences. Cos I'm a perfectionist though, it probably won't be open to the public untill I have tweaked everything to my liking ;) Hell, if I don't bore you all to death, I may keep an updated record of it's development!

I never used to be good at adding hacks and things. In fact, any change I made to my old forum seemed to result in it's untimly death, but now, older/wiser and all that, I'm much more experienced with vBulletin and really enjoy tinkering around with it.

So yeah, glad to join here. Lets get some discussions going, yah? :P

It's good, though even though it's a BETA it is extremely more buggy than I'd expected. Looks promising though.

It really is too bad my license expired. I'll have to look into that darned owned license once I get the money. :) I'll still hang around here, though. I do a lot of vB styles for a friend.

Well I'm new here. I still use vBulletin 2 and my board can be found over at http://www.zeldacentralhq.com/forums/

I also work with vBulletin 3 offline, and code for a few select vB3 Communities around the net. Hope to have some interesting discussions here. That's about it for now.
